The newly created Liverpool FC International Academy NSW has made its first signing of the summer with the announcement of new Head Coach James Gow.
Liverpool FC International Academy NSW was announced in April as a partnership between the world famous club and Lismore’s Southern Cross University.
Mr Gow was chosen as the preferred candidate for Head Coach by the International Academy coaching staff in Liverpool.
New South Wales General Manager Scott Collis said “James is Liverpool born and bred and joins us as one of the club’s outstanding young coaches. He brings authenticity and experience in similar roles to our Academy”.
Mr Gow joined Liverpool in 2007 and has excelled in various roles including working as a first team analyst based at LFC’s Melwood training ground. He has also been lead coach on LFC’s leadership and management program and spent a year as Head Coach of Liverpool FC’s International Academy project in China.
“As a scouser and an LFC fan it means a great deal to me to represent the club. I have been incredibly fortunate to represent Liverpool all over the world. I am excited about moving to Australia and the opportunities this role presents” Mr Gow said.
Mr. Gow’s talent is without question, and his praises have been sung by former LFC player and Head of Development Phase at Liverpool’s central academy in Kirkby, Michael Yates, “He’s an excellent coach and always conducts himself with character that is recognisable to LFC’s core values – the Liverpool Way.”
Dan White, Head of Liverpool FC’s International Academy program is confident James will be a success in Australia. “James is a coach with fresh ideas and an appetite to constantly learn and develop. He has a unique background having worked at Melwood, the Academy in Kirkby and as the Technical Lead on a number of overseas programmes” Mr White said.
“The Liverpool FC International Academy NSW is our first program in Australia and we are passionate about ensuring it offers the most authentic club coaching program. We trust James to represent and uphold the values and standards expected of Liverpool FC” he added.
It is expected that Mr Gow will officially take up his new role at the end of June and he will immediately get to work selecting and training a team of local coaches to assist in delivering a range of programs around the State.
“Coaches interested in joining the Liverpool International Academy NSW coaching team should contact the Academy via www.LiverpoolAcademyNSW.com.au.” said Mr Collis.
