For the second year running, LFC-DSK Academy have qualified for the U18 I-League knock-out competition. This fantastic achievement was the result of finishing joint top with Pune FC of the Maharashtra regional zone in qualifying. This year, the finals are set to take place in the TATA Academy in Kolkata over a two week period of intense competition.
The highly anticipated competition got underway on January 27th and will consist of two groups fighting it out to make it into the semi-finals. The winners of which will then face off in the final to be crowed the eventual winner. LFC-DSK Academy has been drawn in the ‘A’ group alongside AIFF Elite Academy, Lonestar Kashmir, SAI-Guwahati and the host TATA Academy. This will provide the players at LFC-DSK Academy with a fantastic opportunity to compete against the best youth players across India which will no doubt further aid their development.
LFC-DSK Academy head coach Dave Rogers said: “The squad have been working really hard in preparation for the upcoming I-League finals. Last year was our first year competing at this level and we learnt a lot through the process.
“This time around we know what to expect and have prepared accordingly. This is a chance for these players to shine at this level and we’ll be encouraging them to be confident, go out and make their mark on the fixtures and above all enjoy representing the club in this prestigious tournament.
“We’re in great shape and are really looking forward to the challenge.”
